!Info from "The Aaron Stark Family" book by Charles R. Stark 1927. Not much
has been found of this man and his family. It looks like he did not leave
Dutchess Co, NY. Records speak of Christopher Stark, Jr., "Cordwainer", as a
resident of Beekman, Dutchess Co, NY in 1769. His and a part of his brother
Aaron's family have lost their identity by mispelling their name "Start."
Article from Mr Shriner's notes, from Vigo County Historical Society, Indiana,
about 1772, he moved with other members of the family and settled in Wyoming
Valley, now Luzerne Co, PA. By the time of the Wyoming Valley Massacre, most
of his children had reached adulthood and were serving in the American Army.
History reveals that Col. Butler led his Indians against the Wyoming Settlement
at the time most of the young men were away serving with the Continental Army.
Christopher Stark was killed in the massacre on 3 Jul 1778, as related by his
son Aaron, who escaped from the same engagement, and later settled in Dutchess
Co, NY.
