!From Filson Club, Louisvile, KY--IL Papers: "Michael Troutman born in Germany
1732, brought to America by his father in 1743, settled in vicinity of
Hagarstown, MD. 2nd wife was Elizabeth Schroeder whom he married in MD. Among
children was Elizabeth married James Carrico (1774-1847)" signed, Homer
Carrico, U.S. Army Retired. (GMG in June 1991.)

brother, Peter, lived in Frederick Co, MD, at beginning of Revolution.
Michael was a Capt of Militia in Gen. Geo. Rogers Clark's expedition against
the Shawnee Indians. Back to MD, then moved to KY and established his home in
1792 about 4 miles from Shepherdsville, Bullitt Co, KY. He was a farmer,
speculated in land, operated mills and tanneries.
Received from Edgar Porter Harned; John Michael was a captain in the
militia.His military record extends from Maryland to KY. During his interia KY
Journey in 1780, he served in the Lincoln Co militia in Jul and Aug under
Capt. Permenas Broisco in Gen. George Rogers Clark's Expedition against the
Shawneens. His stay in KY was long enough to take part in the defense of the
frontier, lend a hand in road building and enter claims for more than 3000
acres of land. Dates of birth and death from DAR records, Maryland.
