!Was a private in VA Militia, at beginning of the Rev. War, then raised his own
Company.
Finished the war as a Lieutenant. (Harned Family History). This is verified by
the PENNSYLVANIA ARCHIVES (PUB. HARRISBURG,1888) page 739-740 which also
lists the privates in his company. Page 741 lists Captain Abner Howell's
Company (also from Washington County, PA) lists Daniel Stark and James Stark,
thus showing an early relationship between the Starks and the Harneds. Harned
family history made point that the money to buy the Kentucky lands was largely
from the Penn. bounty. The same is probably true of "our" James Stark. (CEW)
Buried in family cemetery: Harned-Newman Cemetery. Have picture of
tombstones. Check where he died, have Harden County and Nelson County. (GMG)
