Henry joined the Marine Corps at the end of WW I and was a career Marine,
serving as Sergeant in Nicaragua in the 1930's, stationed in Quantico, VA where
he was on the football team and travelled all over the U.S. My Dad & I attended
one of his games when he played a military unit in St. Louis, at Sportsman's
Park in 1934, but we were disappointed since his team lost. Then he was sent
to CA and in Dec he was married. Soon after he was transferred and stationed in
China, where his son, James Pierson, was born. When WW II broke out his wife &
son had to return to the United States. He was a Master Sergeant and was
immediately promoted to Lieutant because he was failiar with the way of their
fighting. He was in the battle at Tarawa, and spent all of the war in the
South Pacific . He and his first wife were divorced, and he remarried & had
several children. He retired as Lt. Colonel or Colonel, not sure which. He
did not have anything to do with his sisters. He was living in Norfolk, VA in
the mid 1980's.
Passport #22667 issued 30 Sep 1936 to Henry Pierson and Florence Crowe.
Places of residence: 1901-1911, Olney, Richland Co, IL; 1911-1918, Mt Pulaski,
Logan Co, IL. Then he joined the Marines, and was a career Marine, retiring
sometime in late 1970's.
The info for the 2nd wife and their children was given to me by Henry's
sisters in Jun 1966, so birthdates are just guesses.
Henry and Mona and family were living in Portsmouth, VA in Jun 1966, and Henry
was Chief of Police. Still living there in mid 1980's.
