following from COMMONWEALTH OF PA, PA HISTORICAL AND MUSEUM COMMISSION, dated
Mar 19, 1975, "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN; This is to certify that, under the
Militia Loan of 1 April 1784, a certificate of public debt, #2975, in the
amount of L14.0.0, was issued in the name of LEWIS DUVALL for a horse, lost
while serving as a member of the Westmoreland County Militia on the Sanduskey
Expedition. Signed by HARRY E. WHIPKEY, Chief, Div of Archives & Manuscripts.
Has the seal of Archives on it; and under it, Authority: Interest Register,
volume A, page 101, Militia Loans of 1784 and 1785, "Public Debt," Records of
the Comptroller General, at the Division of Archives and Manuscripts."

the volunteers who marched from Washington County in the memorable campaign of
1782 against the Wyondaot towns are found in the minutes of Supreme Executive
Council of PA referring to awards made years later.
"'Jan 7, 1785, The Comptroller-general's reports upon the following accounts
against thed State for losses sustained, etc, upon the Indian expedition of
1782, under the direction of Colonel Wm. Crawford, were read and approved, viz:
Jan 10, 1785.......eleven pounds to Lewis Duvall.'"
