of Will from the court house, Edwardsville, Madison County, IL.
from records of Madison County, IL. Buried in old Holy Cross Lutheran Church
Cemetery, Collinsville, Madison Co, IL. Death record shows she was 41 yrs 4 mo
and 26 days. Church records said she was born in Wurtenberg, Germany, but the
1880 census said she was b in PA. Church records said she died from "hardening
of stomach." Her will reads: "I, Hannah Brighton of Collinsville do
hereby make
declare and publish this my last Will and Testament, etc. 1st, pay all funeral
expenses and all other debts. 2nd, after expenses are paid, give to each of my
beloved children named as follows: Caroline Becker, Rosa Fecker, William H.
Brighton, Bertha H. Brighten, Priscilla A. Brighton, and George A. Brighton the
sum of $5.00 to be paid as they arrive at legal age. 3rd, I give to my beloved
husband Jefferson T. Brighton the remainder of my estate consisting of my
dwelling house and lot or parcel of land on which it is built in Co of Madison,
State of IL, described as follows, being a part of the N E 1/4 of S E 1/4 of
sect 33 in twp 3 N of R 8 of 3rd principal meridian, adj H. Albrechts land,
containing 1 acre of land, also, all of my personal effects of whatever name or
character, to be used and enjoyed by him my said husband or disposed of to suit
his own convenience or purposes. 4th, I appoint my beloved husband, Jefferson
T. Brighton, my executor of this my last will, etc, with no bond or security
required. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty
third day of December, Eighteen Hundred and Seventy two. (signed in German

Affidavit or decease, State of IL, Hannah Brighton departed this life on or
about the 11th day of Jan 1873. Signed by J. T. Brighton, accepted to court 7
