Massena, March 21. -- Mrs. Alice Jesmer McClure. 77, wife of Alfred C.
McClure, Brookdale, died at 9:40 yesterday morning at the home of a
daughter, Mrs. Robert Chapman, BrookdaIe.
The body has been taken to the Chapman home. The service will be
conducted at the house Thursday afternoon at 2 by Rev. Thomas Boghosian,
Brant Lake, a former pastor of the Brookdale Wesleyan Methodist church,
and Rev. Bernard Fortune, the present pastor. Burial will be made in the
Brookdale cemetery.
Mrs. McClure is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Robert
(Hazel) Chapman, Brookdale, Mrs. Kenneth (Mayfred) Ross, Watervliet: two
sons, Bernard McClure, Pottersville and Norval McClure, Norwood; one
brother, Charles Jesmer, Massena; 18 grandchildren, eight great
grandchildren.
Born at Parishville Oct. 6 1878, Mrs. McClure was the daughter of Levi
and Sophia Kirkey Jesmer. She attended schools in the north country and
was married to Mr. McClure at Massena Feb. 27, 1907. The ceremony took
place in the rcctory of St. John's Episcopal church with Rev. Hector
MacKenzie, then rector, officiating.
Since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. McClure lived at Brookdale where Mr.
McClure operated the family farm. Mrs. McClure was a member of the
Brookdale Wesleyan Methodist church.
