archive. Member of merchant tailors (a guild or social club). Attended
merchant tailor's school. Owner of shop called Cross Keys and tenements
on Thames street. Gave money (scholarship) to St. John College of Oxford
University. Owned house in London. Lived in St. Magnus Parish. Probably
buried St. Magnus Church. Maybe married at Edmonton, Midd.? 1579 to Elizabeth
Harding. Adventurer (shares) in Virginia Land Co. Had brother (W?y)? with
wife Mary. John's wife died before 1617. He was well-educated and a wealthy
